Saveur Femmes Du Fromage Cheese Box

At a speakcheesy in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village, a talented group of women in cheese gathered for a fall-inspired SAVEUR Supper. The result was a fascinating glimpse into the world of food science, an exchange of culinary knowledge, and a very real sense of how cheese can bring extraordinary people together. Also as a result, four of our beloved cellar-aged cheeses were on display inside of the beautiful menu prepared by our friends at Murray’s Cheese – Canela, Grand Cru, Buttermilk Blue, and Aged Gouda, artfully crafted by our food scientist and cheesemaker, Madeline Kuhn. A menu so stunning, in fact, that we had to create this beautiful cheese collection inspired by the women who have shaped the industry. Grand Cru® Surchoix

This World Champion cheese is the best of our best – handmade in traditional copper vats and aged in our cellars under the careful watch of our cellarmasters. This washed-rind Alpine-style cheese is aged a minimum of 9 months to create a firm texture and complex flavors of caramel, fruit, and mushroom. Grand Cru Surchoix was named the 2016 World Champion, winning among 3,000 entries and marking the first time an American-made cheese won the cheese competition in nearly 3 decades. No domestically produced cheese has achieved such honors since.

Canela

Experts at producing award-winning American Original cheeses, our cheesemakers continue to craft the beautiful and unique, limited production Canela. Named after the Spanish word for “Cinnamon” this Spanish-inspired American Original is made with fresh, Wisconsin Cow’s milk then hand-rubbed with a cinnamon and paprika blend for its signature reddish-orange rind and sweet flavor. Formerly GranQueso, this one-of-a-kind cheese has been an American Cheese Society winner seven years in a row.

3 Chile Pepper Gouda

A colorful trio of chipotle, habanero and jalapeño peppers add a south-of-the-border twist to this award-winning cheese. Our 3 Chile Pepper Gouda boasts more smoke than spice, which is balanced by a soft, buttery texture for depth.

Aged Gouda

Here in the rolling hills of Wisconsin, we have crafted a new Gouda that highlights the best-in-class cheesemaking we do every day at our Roth creamery. New Roth Aged Gouda is made with fresh, local Wisconsin milk, then cured for at least six months in the Roth Cellars in Monroe, Wisconsin. Available now on Imperfect Foods.

MezzaLuna® Fontina

Inspired by an Italian Alpine favorite. This hand-crafted, washed-rind Fontina bears a rich, creamy texture and mild, earthy flavors with hints of yeast and wild mushrooms. An outstanding melting cheese.

Fontiago®

An original blend of Fontina and Asiago flavors. The best of both worlds, this distinctive cheese has a complex flavor that starts off rich and sweet like Fontina and finishes with the tangy bite of an aged Asiago.

Bold yet restrained, our recipe is handcrafted in small batches with fresh, local milk. The result is a family of beautifully balanced blues with a mellow, earthy flavor and soft, creamy finish.

Butterkäse

This Old World favorite features a mild, approachable flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Excellent for snacking and cooking, it complements a wide range of flavors.

 

Prairie Sunset®

As cheesemakers, we draw inspiration from a variety of sources. Songs, poems, friends and a host of happy experiences have sparked our creativity throughout the years. A drive home from the creamery one evening set the wheels in motion for our newest signature cheese. As the sun slowly descended over the prairie, the sky was lit in rich ochre hues and thoughts turned to the color palette often used in the work of Georgia O’Keefe, a native of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Soon after, we set to work on this classic table cheese that embodies the heart and soul of the American Midwest – humble, friendly and reliable, yet a star in its own right. If O’Keefe had painted a sun setting over a Wisconsin prairie, this cheese would capture its color and character. The name we found best suited for the cheese that inspired our homage to O’Keefe is Prairie Sunset<sup>®</sup>.
